ASF is proud to be one of Co-op’s main contractors delivering fit-outs in stores across the UK. Briefs range from downsizing stores and refreshes to complete end-to-end fit-outs. Each fit-out is unique and brings its challenges.
Each store was treated individually from a construction perspective. We worked closely with the Co-op team and consultants to overcome this. The most important challenge to get right was the store’s community aspect. This was very important to the client and part of their core values, from residents living above the store to the local community that it serves. During the project preparation, we worked closely with the store and residents to make sure they were fully aware of what was involved in the project to try and minimise any surprises and address any concerns. During this time communication was key.
Each project programme could also bring challenges as it was very important to keep store closures to a minimum to reduce loss in trade and reduce any impact on the local community. Our project team worked closely with the client‘s project team to produce a programme that impacted the store and community as little as possible while allowing contractors to deliver a high quality and safe project.
At ASF, we like to work closely with our clients and learn what is truly important to their business. We are proud to have worked with the Co-op and over this time, we’ve been able to build a partnership based on our shared values of honesty and trust.
ASF worked very hard to understand the client’s brief to develop an all-round project which delivered great quality stores on budget and on time ready to serve their communities.
The Co-op was so happy with our end-to-end fit-out service that ASF was announced as their Contractor of the Year in 2017.
“All project gateways were hit without fail including design and cost validation allowing our Co-op commercial team to approve the scheme in record time and our Co-op engineering team signed off proposals at the first pass. The Swansea Programme was well planned, utilising all ASF’s considerable experience, all delivery dates were achieved, and the new site was successfully handed over to Co-op Funeralcare on time, on budget and most importantly, safely. I continue to appreciate the approach and consideration ASF shows on every project they work on and in the case of Swansea, they are fully deserving of their 100% client perception score. Thank you ASF!”

“ASF is one of our key partners and works across most of our construction workstreams as a principal contractor including Food Retail, Funeralcare, Insurance and Non-Trading properties. ASF regularly achieves strong KPIs, and I frequently receive positive feedback from the construction managers about the quality of work, time on the job and ease of management whilst also engaging with the local communities”.
